In 1760, Francis McMinn, of Donaghadee in Ireland, issued a series of tokens, intending to compete with, and replace, the Wood's Hibernia halfpennies in circulation. 1793 Half Cent Fine 12 Details ANACS
Item #113230
1793 Half Cent Fine 12 Details ANACS
"Fine 12 Details, Corroded" All obverse detail is visible including a full date, Liberty and portrait with the major parts of the hair detail visible. Reverse shows a bold wreath and most of the mottos visible, though the first part of UNITED is weak, and AMERICA and the fraction are only partially visible. Coin is a dark ebony brown color in the fields, with medium brown color on the high points. The surfaces are highly porous with a coat of corrosion, more visible on the reverse. The first year of the Half Cent as well as the scarcest date in the series. You get lots of detail for the price on this legendary rarity housed in an older ANACS holder. Greysheet is $6,000 in F12, $3,750 in VG8 and even $2,850 in G4! Priced below G4 Greysheet!

1793 Half Cent VG Details PCGS Gold Shield
Item #118476
1793 Half Cent VG Details PCGS Gold Shield
"VG Detail - Environmental Damage" Even darker brown color with a readable date, just a weak on the final digit. The portrait is full with some hair detail visible, while LIBERTY is weakly struck and only partially visible. Reverse is rotated about 20 degrees, and all the detail clear with a bit of weakness in the center. The surfaces have some areas of light pitting and porosity. A larger planchet crack is visible on both sides, along with a few rim nicks. Overall, a nice and more affordable specimen of the first U.S. Half Cent! Greysheet is $3,750 in VG, $2,850 in G4 and even $2,000 in AG3!
$2195.00
1793 Wreath Cent F12 Details ANACS
Item #120232
1793 Wreath Cent F12 Details ANACS
"F12 Details - Corroded/Burnished" Even, deep ebony brown color on both sides with a lighter planchet streak that runs vertically down the central area of the obverse. The portrait is bold with lots of hair detail visible, the date is a bit weak yet fully readable and Liberty is full. Reverse is weakly struck in the very center making the word ONE CENT quite weak. Lots of detail for the price and a wonderful opportunity to add this scarce coin to your collection!
$1595.00
1793 Wreath Cent VG Details PCGS
Item #118354
1793 Wreath Cent VG Details PCGS
"VG Details - Env. Damage" Looks more G4 detail in our opinion, though more likely it is a weakly struck VG. The portrait is fully outlined and Liberty is weak yet readable, though the date is not visible. Reverse has most of the central detail visible, with a weak strike along the peripheries making most of the mottos quite weak. The surfaces are porous, and there are rust-colored planchet splits visible on the lower portion of both sides. A very affordable, certified example of this very scarce issue! Lettered Edge variety

1794 Flowing Hair Half Dollar G Details NCS
Item #108641
1794 Flowing Hair Half Dollar G Details NCS
"G Details - Tooled, Reverse Graffiti" A pleasing example of this ultra-rare coin that has a full date along with all the major detail visible including ample hair detail for the grade. The surfaces are a lighter gray color, giving it an original look though hairlines can be found underneath from a past cleaning. Obverse has a few short, minor bag scratches, while reverse has some graffiti that resembles the letter 'W' etched into the field above the eagle's head, along with a couple pinpoint nicks at the top. A sharp G4 with some minor problems, but overall has a nice look. Housed in an older NCS holder, which was NGC's original holder for problem coins. Such an extremely scarce coin, and very tough to find at this low price level!
$2195.00
1794 Franklin Press Plain Edge Token MS63 NGC Brown
Item #117560
1794 Franklin Press Plain Edge Token MS63 NGC Brown
Impressive medium to slightly deeper brown color with lots of reddish tan highlights throughout the obverse, and around the lettering of the reverse. A well struck example with no major marks and lovely eye appeal. The 1794 Franklin Press Token belongs to a series of British-made pieces known as "Conder" Tokens (Halfpenny- and Penny-sized tokens made for sale to collectors and sometimes used as advertising tokens by certain merchants). Although the Franklin Press Tokens probably never circulated in America, collectors have included them as a U.S. "Colonial" coin because of the reference to the American patriot and statesman, Benjamin Franklin. The printing press illustrated on the front of this token is believed to be the same press used by Franklin while he worked in London, England as a journeyman printer! Priced well below the $1,500 Greysheet price!
$1095.00
1794 Half Cent F Detail PCGS
Item #111580
1794 Half Cent F Detail PCGS
"F Detail - Tooled" Even dark ebony grey fields with slightly lighter color on some of the high points. The obverse shows a full date, portrait and Liberty with evenly porous surfaces. The reverse is weakly struck, which is common on this very early issue, and shows most of the detail, though it is quite faint. The reverse surfaces show heavy porosity. While the holder states 'Tooled', it seems that it was incorrectly mark as we would think this one would be marked as 'Environmental Damage'. We do not see any tooling marks, just dark, porous surfaces. A very scarce, early Half Cent with just 81,600 ever minted! Greysheet is $1,300 in F12 and $850 in VG8!
$595.00

There is also touches of corrosion on a couple letters of the reverse mottos, as well as parts of the recesses of the wreath. The obverse has an area around the rim from 7:00 to 8:00 that is weakly struck. Despite the problems, this coin has nice surfaces overall, and lots of detail for the price! Greysheet is $1,300 in F12 and $850 in VG8!
$625.00

1795 Flowing Hair Half Dime VF30 Details ANACS
Item #109808
1795 Flowing Hair Half Dime VF30 Details ANACS
"VF30 Details Damaged-Cleaned" The Flowing Hair Half Dimes were only struck for two years, 1794 and 1795. The combined mintage of the two is only 86,416 coins, which much less surviving today. This example has sharp VF detail and lovely light silvery gray color despite being lightly cleaned. The strike is above average with ample hair detail, and typical softness on the eagle's wings, giving it a VF/F look. There is a pinpoint nick to the right of the '5' in the date, as well as a couple of minor obverse field scratches. An extremely rare coin that retains very nice eye appeal priced at a big discount! Housed in the original, small ANACS holder. Greysheet is $2,300 in VF20, $3000 in VF30 and $4,750 in XF!

1795 Flowing Hair Half Dime XF Details NGC
Item #118862
1795 Flowing Hair Half Dime XF Details NGC
"XF Details - Obv Scratched" Coin has attractive, even deep antique grey color on both sides. Obverse shows sharp hair detail for the grade, while reverse has the normal soft strike on the outer area of the wings. There is an old, vertical scratch on the obverse extending from the ear to the bottom of the neck, and there is a small, hidden nick in the lower right obverse field. Otherwise, the surfaces are very nice with no other problems. This is only the second year of issue for the Half Dime, and quite scarce though much more affordable than the 1794. Lots of detail for the grade and priced at a huge discount. Greysheet is $4,750 in XF, $3.000 in VF30 and even $2,300 in VF20!

1795 Flowing Hair Half Dollar F Detail PCGS
Item #107962
1795 Flowing Hair Half Dollar F Detail PCGS
"F Detail - Graffiti" Handsome, original surfaces with pleasing gray color and nice surfaces. This is a sharp Fine, with ample hair detail and nicely struck that is comparable to many certified F15 and VF examples we have seen. There is graffiti etched on the cheek, with a series of short scratches making a uniform design. A small scuff and a couple faint scratches can be found on the reverse. Otherwise, this very scarce coin is a pleasing, problem free example! Lots of detail for the price on this vintage half dollar!
$1425.00
1795 Flowing Hair Half Dollar F15 NGC
Item #116113
1795 Flowing Hair Half Dollar F15 NGC
Lovely and original with deeper grey fields and lighter silvery grey color on the high points. Coin is nicely struck for this very early vintage coin with weakness only on the 'CA' in AMERICA on the reverse. Obverse has a few scattered hairlines along with a couple rim nicks. Reverse has a number of adjustment marks in the lower right portion of the reverse. These adjustment marks are visible scrapes on the planchet made prior to the coin being struck on that planchet. They were made to reduce the silver weight of the planchet if the planchet was overweight, and is commonly seen on these early vintage coins. Pleasing eye appeal on this scarce, early half that is housed in a problem free F15 NGC holder!
$1749.00
1795 Flowing Hair Half Dollar VF Detail PCGS Gold Shield
Item #110415
1795 Flowing Hair Half Dollar VF Detail PCGS Gold Shield
"VF Detail - Tooled" Pleasing light to medium gray color with full VF detail. The eagle shows nice feather detail for the grade, as so often it is very weakly struck in this area. There are many mint-made adjustment marks around the obverse rim from 2:00 to 3:00, and 7:00 to 9:00, and on the reverse rim from 10:00 to 12:00, and 3:00 to 5:00. Adjustment marks were done before the coin was minted. In the late 1700's and early 1800's, the planchet was weighed, and often scraped with a file to bring it to the proper weight and silver content. The coin was then struck, though usually most of the adjustment marks will still be seen. These are often mistaken for scratches, as they have a similar look, though usually run in a very parallel pattern. This coin also has a few light scratches in the central area of the obverse, which accounts for the "Tooled" designation given by PCGS. Greysheet is $2,350 in VF and $1,850 in F12. A great deal on this very scarce Flowing Hair Half Dollar that we rarely see!
$1795.00
1795 Flowing Hair Half Dollar VG8 NGC
Item #117838
1795 Flowing Hair Half Dollar VG8 NGC
Pleasing lighter grey color with nice surfaces and all the major detail visible. This scarce issue is only the second year of the Half Dollar, and a very low mintage issue though much affordable than the 1794. Problem free examples are tough to find, particularly with nice surfaces and eye appeal! O-105
$1349.00
1795 Flowing Half Dime EF40 Details ANACS
Item #113482
1795 Flowing Half Dime EF40 Details ANACS
"EF40 Details - Mount Removed/Altered Surfaces LM-10" Pleasing lighter silver color with VF-XF detail in our opinion. The surfaces are porous, though the detail is all clear. There is a larger chunk of solder visible at 12:00 on the obverse, and 6:00 on the reverse where a mount was removed, as this was most likely attached to a necklace decades ago. There is also a scrape at the top of Miss Liberty's head. A very rare, low mintage early Half Dime that, despite the problems, has nice detail and priced at a huge discount off the $4,750 Greysheet price for an XF40! Greysheet is $2,300 in VF20 and even $1,750 in F12!
$1495.00
1795 Half Cent VG Detail PCGS
Item #117756
1795 Half Cent VG Detail PCGS
Even, deeper brown color with a nice strike and plenty of detail visible for the grade. The date is readable, though the 5 is weak due to about six larger nicks scattered across the obverse, one of which is on the final digit of the date. There is a planchet split at 7:00 on the obverse, and visible on the reverse at 10:30. Reverse has four larger nicks as well, mostly in the central region. A couple edge nicks are visible on the reverse. All detail is visible, and the surfaces are quite with the exception of the nicks. Plain Edge, No Pole
$325.00
1795 Half Dime XF Details NGC
Item #119281
1795 Half Dime XF Details NGC
"XF Details - Plugged" Pleasing medium grey color with lighter steel grey on the high points. Shows XF detail with the normal weak strike on the eagle's wing feathers, more so on the left (facing) wing. The plug is very difficult to detect as it was done professionally, and appears to be on the obverse at 12:00, though tough to tell for sure. A tiny obverse scratch along with a couple reverse rim nicks are noted for accuracy. A very scarce, early flowing hair half dime that has the look of a problem free coin and priced at a tremendous discount! Greysheet is $4,750 in XF40, $3000 in VF30 and $2,300 in VF20!
$1995.00
1796 Draped Bust Dime XF Details NGC LIKERTY Variety
Item #119996
1796 Draped Bust Dime XF Details NGC LIKERTY Variety
"XF Details - Plugged, Damaged" Has XF or so detail with brighter surfaces and pretty gold toning around the rims. Coin has four plugs, one around 2:00 along the obverse rim, two more around around 4:00 and 7:00 and the last one at 10:00. While they are apparent when you look for them, they do not stand out as they are the same color as the rest of the coin. There are some scuffs around the peripheries along with a couple pinpoint obverse nicks. This is the scarce LIKERTY variety, where the B in the word LIBERTY looks like a K. This is a very scarce year with just over 10k minted, and of that low mintage, a smaller percentage are this scarce variety! Greysheet is $5,850 in XF40, $3,850 in VF20 and even $3,000 in F12. Tons of detail and priced below a VG8!

Item #111653
1796 Large Cent VG10 Details ANACS LIHERTY Variety S-103
"VG10 Details - Corroded S-103" Looks more VG8 details in our opinion with a slightly weak yet readable date. The portrait is full with some of the bottom hair curls visible, and Liberty is full. Reverse has all the major detail visible. Coin is a dark, ebony brown color with porous surfaces from corrosion. This is the very scarce LIHERTY variety (S-103), which makes it look like it says LIHERTY instead of LIBERTY on the obverse! Greysheet is $2,300 in VG8 and even $1,100 in G4!
$625.00

$475.00

Item #114886
1798 Draped Bust Dime VF Detail PCGS Small 8
"VF Detail - Environmental Damage" A solid VF with deeper grey color. At arm's length, this early dime looks problem free, though with closer inspection there is some porosity at the top left of the obverse, and evenly spread around the reverse. Coin is sharply struck with ample hair detail and all the wing feathers crisp. A very scarce date with a mere 27,550 minted. This is the scarce "Small 8" variety (as noted on the holder), which is much scarcer than the Large 8. Greysheet is $6,000 in VF20, $3,200 in F12, $2,400 in VG8 and even $1,800 in G4!

$2195.00
1800 Draped Bust Dollar AU50 NNC
Item #118646
1800 Draped Bust Dollar AU50 NNC
This vintage dollar has sharp XF detail in our opinion with lights silver grey fields and touches of rustic, copper gold toning on the high points of Miss Liberty and parts of the reverse. While technically the coin has been lightly cleaned, there are no significant hairlines giving the look of a problem free coin. NNC (National Numismatic Certification) is an obscure coin certification service that is still in business, though seems to have somewhat inconsistent grading over the years. Coin is in a certified holder graded as a problem free AU50, though we grade it XF40 with a light cleaning and are pricing it accordingly. Greysheet is $5,000 in AU50 and $3,000 in XF40. This one is priced to sell!
$2395.00
1800 Draped Bust Half Dime AG3 Details ANACS
Item #120255
1800 Draped Bust Half Dime AG3 Details ANACS
"AG3 Details - Corroded-Bent-Scratched-Cleaned" VERY sharp for the assigned grade and looks substantially nicer in our opinion, more along the lines of a G6 in detail. The fields and recesses are a dark grey color while the higher points are light grey. There is some corrosion in the fields, more so on the reverse, along with signs of an old cleaning. Obverse has a couple of scratches in the right field, and apparently the coin has a slight bend, though very difficult to tell in the holder. This scarce, early Half Dime is much nicer than the holder suggests!
$495.00
1800 Large Cent VF Detail PCGS
Item #109029
1800 Large Cent VF Detail PCGS
"VF Detail - Tooled" Pleasing even, deeper brown color with nice surfaces. Obverse looks VF, while reverse is a bit softly struck with some slight weakness on the mottos and wreath. With magnification there are a couple very faint micro scratches hidden on the obverse, though there are no obvious tooling marks. Has the appearance of problem free coin with a soft reverse strike, though with a big discount! Greysheet is $500 in VF20!

$315.00
1801 Bust Dollar VF Details NGC
Item #117109
1801 Bust Dollar VF Details NGC
"VF Details - Obv Damage" Handsome, deep original grey color with solid VF detail. A sharply struck example for this issue with full wing feathers and stars. There are several small, scattered nicks on the obverse portrait, and a couple in the central area of the reverse. These are old nicks, which blend into the toning making them not as obvious when casually viewed. A big discount off the $2,100 Greysheet price for a VF!
$1425.00
1801 Draped Bust Half Fine Detail PCGS Gold Shield
Item #118159
1801 Draped Bust Half Fine Detail PCGS Gold Shield
"F Detail - Damage" A solid F12 with medium grey color and all detail clear. From arm's length coin appears to have some porosity, though with closer inspection there are a myriad of tiny bubbles in the planchet, which are spread throughout the coin on both sides. Our guess is that the coin was exposed to heat at one time, which can cause this appearance. A very scarce, early date with a mere 30,289 ever minted! Greysheet is $1,850 in F12 and and $1,300 in VG8!
$895.00

"VG Detail - Rim Damage" A solid VG with beautiful toning in shades of blue in the fields with some sea-green around the peripheries. There are a few old scrapes running diagonally across Miss Liberty's head, and a couple rim nicks on the reverse. While hardly visible due to the PCGS holder, it looks to have a scrape on the edge at around 3:00 to 4:00 visible on the obverse side. The reverse is rotated about 180 degrees! Lovely eye appeal and a big discount on this scarce early dime!
