Sharp, well struck, chocolate brn, and problem free Obv. Reverse shows chocolate brn with some brick red patches, which accounts for the “enviro. damage”. Orig. mark free and a stunning high grade example of a capped half cent. The variety where the “1” in date was punched much too high. The date was then added at the correct position. The entire “1” that was cut into the die was not removed. This left the clear 1 over the current date position. This is the most dramatic and clear recut date on early coins. This date Bids over $5,000, and sells for about $5,500 in this grade. $1,000 has been taken off the price for the uneven color on reverse. Very rare this nice
